iGaming Ontario’s FY 2023-24 Full Year Market Performance Report

This iGaming Ontario market performance report covers the second full year of market operations (April 1, 2023 through March 31, 2024). This report includes information on all Operators with gaming websites that had trading activity during that period.1 As of March 31, 2024, there were 47 Operators offering 77 gaming websites.   • Q4 total wagers in Q4 were $17.8 billion, with the 2023-24 year ending at $63 billion, a 78% increase over 2022-23. This figure does not include promotional wagers (bonuses).
  • Q4 total gaming revenue in Q4 was $690 million, with the 2023-24 ending at $2.4 billion, a 72% increase over 2022-23. This figure represents total cash wagers, including rake fees, tournament fees, and other fees, across all Operators, player winnings derived from cash wagers and does not take into account operating costs or other liabilities. 

“With $63 billion in wagering and $2.4 billion in gaming revenue, the second year of Ontario’s igaming market is more than 70% bigger than the first,” says iGaming Ontario Executive Director Martha Otton. “As the market matures into its third year, I look forward to building on this foundation of success with operators and other partners as they invest in Ontario so that Ontarians can continue to play with confidence.”

  • Q4 casino wagers were $14.6 billion, with the 2023-24 year ending at $51.7 billion, an 88% increase over 2022-23. Casino games include slots, live and computer-based table games and peer-to-peer bingo.
  • Q4 casino gaming revenue was $510 million, with the 2023-24 year ending at $1.8 billion, an 89% increase over 2022-23. 
  • Q4 betting wagers were $2.7 billion, with the 2023-24 year ending at $9.7 billion, a 39% increase over 2022-23. Betting includes on sports, esports, proposition and novelty bets, as well as exchange betting.
  • Q4 betting gaming revenue was $161 million, with the 2023-24 year ending at $588 million, a 36% increase over 2022-23. 
  • Q4 peer-to-peer (P2P) poker wagers were $446 million, with the 2023-24 year ending at $1.6 billion, a 64% increase over 2022-23.
  • Q4 peer-to-peer poker gaming revenue was $19 million, with the 2023-24 year ending at $67 million, a 67% increase over 2022-23.

Active Player Accounts and Average Monthly Spend in Q4 (January 1 to March 31, 2024)

  • Over 1.3 million player accounts were active during Q4. Active player accounts are accounts with cash and/or promotional wagering activity during the time period and do not represent unique players as individuals may have accounts with multiple Operators. 
  • In Q4, the monthly spend per active player account was $263 using an updated calculation method for this figure. For comparison purposes, the updated average monthly spend figures for previous quarters are now available. Read more.
